What Is Horizontal Directional Drilling?

The process uses a surface-launched drilling rig to create a bore path along a predetermined underground route. A pilot hole is drilled along the planned path, then enlarged (reamed) to the required diameter before pulling the product pipe or cable through the bore.

The only surface disturbances are the small entry and exit pits at each end of the bore.
